🍏Apple crisp with pear
I love the combination of apple and pears in this crisp. The pears are sweet and soft while the apples are tart and a little more firm, but still soft. I cut the fruit in small slices and then cut them in half to make them more manageable to eat.
This crisp is topped with a super generous amount of crunchiness! I originally made this with less topping and it was, just okay. But once I increased the amount - perfect! You want lots of crunch paired with the warm fruit!

🥘Ingredients
Ingredient notes
- Apples - using the right kind of apples is as important as making an apple pie. I like to use an apple that is slightly more tart so it will balance well with the sweetness of pears. Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, and Honeycrisp would all work here.
- Oats - whole oats are best. You can use quick oats, but they will be more powdery.
🔪Instructions
Mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract together in a small bowl. Mix this through the fruit, making sure all of the fruit slices get covered evenly. Pour into a greased 8 inch or 9 inch baking dish.
Prepare the topping by mixing flour, sugar, and cinnamon together. Cut butter into the flour mixture, and then stir in oats and pecans. Sprinkle on top of fruit and bake until the fruit is bubbling, and the top is golden.
Let cool for 10 minutes before serving and then store in the refrigerator.

We made an apple cobbler and I did not like the oats in the crumble.
